Yall never cease to amaze! I love thatToday's project! Made with branches from our Blue Atlas Cedar!
Day 3!!! Last night my husband suggested that I not switch between the red a white bulbs (we've always just used white), so I headed to bed and then I heard one of the chicks loudly peeping, she definitely wasn't happy, the others were still running around. So, I decided to swap bulbs. As soon as I switched to the red they all came to the sleeping area and settled down. Maybe it was a coincidence, but I don't know! Funny little creatures!!!![]()
I think there is some truth to it! Thank you for the info!I remember reading long ago that white light stimulates chicks. Maybe there's some truth to it. I never used white so just passing along what I read several years ago.
Today we started the process of upgrading the coop! We decided that if we remove the nesting box from inside and add 3 roost bars, we won't have to make a bigger coop! The chickens should have enough room. My husband is going to build a new nesting box that will be accessible from the outside. It will be so much nicer for collecting eggs! I will also be giving the inside a fresh coat of paint and we are going to be placing some kind of Teflon sheeting on the floor and part way up the sides of the inside of the coop, keeping it clean should be much easier! We will be going to town on Sunday to pick up some fencing material to expand the pen and we will get whatever hardware and other supplies we need to complete the coop updates! Hopefully we get everything in one trip, it take's an hour to get there!View attachment 2057516View attachment 2057517View attachment 2057518
Thank you! It will make the coop so much nicer!Exterior nesting boxes do make for a roomier interior, good idea! Good luck with your project![]()
