Our Mixed Flock Journey!

Hi yall!
My daughter and I went to her friends house yesterday and she brought us into her coop/run to show us her chickens... she had three roosters living peacefully within the flock.. two FCMs and one Cochin bantam.. they didn’t mind us one bit.. then she picked each one up and cuddled them.. she also had other yards with roos and hens... went and picked each one of them up.. and her little sister picked up another one.. I was very impressed at how many sweet roosters she has.. if I ever decide to have a rooster.. I will definitely get one from her!
Hopefully you will have a sweet one too!

That's awesome! So far Roo 2 is still being nice. Some are just wired to be mean, it's like a switch clicked when he started crowing. I wouldn't want any chicks from him, but hopefully Roo 2 will pass on the friendly genes. I don't know about the Marans, they just won't let me near them, but they don't seem super aggressive yet! Time will tell...thank you for the wishes...

After almost 35 years, my faithfully hardworking husband went out the door this morning, heading to his dam (lol) job for the last time! So looking forward to continuing our journey together in this new phase of our lives!

I am so late welcoming you to BYC..I also got my 8 on March 10th...but still trying to figure out what breed some of them are. Posted pictures earlier today but was excited to learn that 2 of the 8 were Egyptian Fayoumi originally from Cairo Egypt. The chick pictured in my profile is still a mystery..as she is now an all over mottled grey feathered girl.

You can post a photo of your mystery girl on this forum, maybe someone there can tell you what breed she is: What Breed Or Gender is This?

A few pics! An update on the Silkies...we had to move them into the coop again last night, but I was encouraged to see them going in there this afternoon on their own. Hopefully they are starting to get the idea that this is their home too!

I started some Mammoth Sunflowers and I will be planting them along the Free Range fence!

The sunflowers will be inside the fence! The grass seed has sprouted, even though you can't see it very good in this picture, it is actually coming in really well! I will be so happy when I can let my chickens out to roam, I think they will be too!

Roo 2 I need to get a close up of Little Roo, I was wondering how I would be able to tell them apart as they grow, well, it seems as if Roo 2 took a chunk out of Little Roo's comb! They definitely have a different profile now! Little Roo was going into the coop and Roo 2 came up beside him on the ramp...talk about a chicken having a panic attack and Roo 2 didn't even do anything to him...poor Little Roo...lol! I spent time raking out the pen today and Little Roo didn't side step at me or try to bite me once...I am encouraged!

Sweet Pearl always nearby and ready for a pet!
