Our Mixed Flock Journey!

Okay.... check this out! I have five broody hens :he... and I do not have enough jail space for that! So, I put them in the “extra” yard I have that is also attached to their coop... remember, they have a coop/run with a yard attached... this one is just an added yard for when I want to sit with them so they do not use this yard regularly... but it is perfect for locking the broodies out of the coop and separate from everyone else as the non broodies need access to the coop so this works great so long as it doesn’t rain.... anyway.. one of my Cochin bantams (Cutie) has figured out how to get back to her nest!! Almost impossible.. but apparently not for her!! The first time she did it I searched for her everywhere and assumed she got scooped up! No, she was in the nest!! Well, this morning I put them out in the extra yard and twice today she made it back to her nest!! Well, the third time I guess the net caught her! I think that she is jumping to the roof of the coop then flying down into their yard!! She was stuck! And calling for help:rolleyes:... Chickens be CRAZY!! That is one determined girl! :gig

The ink arrived today and I finally got to try out my egg stamps! It's going to take a little practice, using a flat stamp on the compound curve of an egg is a little difficult! My son is going to see if he can make it easier to use! I love them, they're so fun!

Here so we are today.... four in banishment... Cutie in jail so as not to risk her getting hurt.... and a possible SIXTH ..... no reason for her to be on a nest as she laid her egg on the ground already! Lord help me!! View attachment 2136022View attachment 2136023View attachment 2136024
Our Banty's used to have free range of our whole yard, one would disappear and the next thing we knew we would have a mess of littles! :jumpy :jumpy :jumpy

I'm afraid I bought too many chickens that have a tendency to be broody, I didn't research good enough, I was just looking for good layers with a friendly disposition...lol! Time will tell!!!
