Our Mixed Flock Journey!

Yesterday was a much better day...Roo 2 came back around, let me pet him & even pick him up...still not completely where we were before, but close. Today is going to be a day off from work, but I have to go to town...so it will still be a long day, an hour to get there, do everything I need to & an hour back. Wish it was just fun stuff, but it will be all business.
My husband gave the PUD his finish date, whether they are finished with the generator build or not, he's done on the 18th. He said that there really won't be any reason for him to stay longer & he's past ready to be out of there. He has worked at the dams for 35 years...long enough! We are so excited!
I hope you all have a great day! 💞

One more thing before I get myself around and out of here! I told my husband that I want to take back the old chicken pen from the pigs. We have a gate where we can enclose them into just the pig pen area, it will make them easier to manage. I want to get broiler chickens and I need the old pen area, we just don't have time to build a chicken tractor. I will have to clean it up and put up a roost bar, but that shouldn't take to long...I think my son is going to build me a chicken plucker, which will make processing them much easier! It will be nice to have a freezer full of chickens this winter! I'm thinking 20 Cornish Cross and possibly some Chantecler's, I have to buy those straight run, but I want to use a rooster and some of the hens as breeding stock for next years meat chickens, it will be nice to not have to buy more Cornish! It's what I'm hoping for anyway!

The 18th will be here before you two know it!

Does he feel like the retirement, will be a FLUSH OUT :gig into the next stage of life.
Don;t forget to post some dam pictures:gig of the last day at work.
:gigI thought I'd heard them all...Flush Out...:gig

Our kids loved to make dam jokes...My dad has the dam keys to the dam door.💞

A report by my oldest titled: Damming the Columbia: A Dam Report, by Dale Stratton son of a Dam worker! His teacher was laughing so hard, it brought tears to his eyes...😂

There are many more! 💞

Yay, more chickens! That will be so awesome to have your own meat. We are cattle ranchers, but I think we eat the same amount of chicken, if not more than beef 😂 Once we move to a bigger, more permanent place I would love to do what you are doing and raise meat chickens! I can't wait to see what you get !
