Our Mixed Flock Journey!

Thank you Jehane! :hugs
I almost didn't want to post about this, because I might have been able to help her!😢
If you share, it helps others. Others learn from our experiences. Just by being willing to share you may save other hens. It is very hard. Sadly, I know it all to well. :hugs:hugs

I promise Lilly will be getting a thorough examination next time she is limping.

It sounds like you are well prepared. I am glad to hear it. I can be a lot if you haven't prepared beforehand. :hugs :hugs
It definitely makes it easier!
Mrs BY Bob says that it is essential she keep moving despite not having the hip in there. So with the walker she will be able to walk using her good side.
According to Mrs BY Bob, they put a "spacer" in place of the hip. It keeps everything in the proper place.
Please tell Mrs BY Bob thank you for the information. 💞 They are already putting her through a lot of PT...she's exhausted by the end of the day! She's one of the strongest women I know and has made it through so much in her life.
I knew they had to use something to stabilize it, I just wasn't sure how! Thank you Bob! 💗

Good morning & thank you Debby! :hugs It really made me sad and I think it was preventable. I've been thinking about the location of the wound & I'm pretty sure it was from the roosters fighting over her when trying to mate. I was watching this morning & it is very rough. We are removing the 2 Silkies today to see if it makes it better and I think it will, one of them is especially bad about it. Even with the huge run I have for them, it's too small for 6 roosters. 🙁 Hopefully my friend will take one of my Marans soon & then we will only have 3 roosters.
Ooo those roosters! 🤦‍♀️
I feel like one rooster is too many... I never really wanted one cuz I didn’t want to deal with the shenanigans... which I know is perfectly natural.. I just don’t like it! And he has his favorite hen who is Sunny.. she is from my oldest group and she does NOT appreciate his fondness! She literally spends the entire day inside the coop and mostly hiding in the roosting area! I don’t think that is anyway for her to have to live! I don’t know what to do though cuz I do like him but I think I liked my flock better before I had a rooster...

Sorry I was missing for a few days. It was hard to keep up as work just exploded. Bad timing all around. I'm glad they have her moving already. That's very good.

Is there anyway to segregate him for part of the day so Sunny can enjoy some ladies time?

O gosh! I'm so sorry. You have my deepest sympathies. :hugs :hugs

I will definitely be looking closer if I see any of my other girls limping...I've just been too distracted lately! :(
