Our Mixed Flock Journey!

Seriously though, you have to make sure you're in a safe spot. When the trees land, they sometimes explode a bit. Sending out wooden shrapnel. I'm usually inside the truck, backing it up to keep tension on the tree so the tree lands where we want.
Dale's very good at dropping them where he wants, but you never want to be over confident.

This is our very first coop. It was built for our first flock of bantams. Dale put it on sleds so we could pull it around. Eventually we placed it in the corner of our yard and built a run for them. That was after we learned the hard way that there were dogs roaming around and they killed of a good portion of our flock.

It was to the right of the roofline you see in the background. We built that for the peacocks. Dale attached chains to it and I ran the telehandler to lift it over the roof and old chicken pen.

I'm impressed with your large equipment skills!

What will you do with the coop, since you removed from original spot?
I don't know what we'll do with it. We've been storing cement forms that Dale built when we built our rock wall in it right now. It's not really convenient for anything and it's showing it's age. So are we, neither one of us want to crouch down to get into it...lol. I suggested we take it over to the chicken pen. Maybe our escape artist would like to lay eggs in it. He just looked at me..lol getting it over there would be difficult. We can't use the telehandler, because we'd have to drive over our drain field and the heavy machinery could destroy it. So, we might just burn it, it's kind of sad looking now.
