Our neighbor complained about us.

The code on the website may have been out of date when you printed it.

You need to go to City Hall and ask them where to find a current copy of the animal ordinances.

No need to mention the goat. Do not give your name, ID or anything else to them.

Once you have a current copy of the ordinance and if you are complying with the ordinance, then contact the agency that sent the warning letter.
Be sure to check that you are in the proper zone for that law. Some cities allow certain animals in certain zones but not other zones.

Sample letter below:

Dear [insert name of the person that sent you the letter],

In regards to your letter dated [insert date and case number], I have reviewed [City name] ordinance [ordinance number(s) and publish dates] and I am in compliance of those ordinances.

[City name] ordinance [ordinance number] states "[quote the relevant part of the ordinance only]". I have only X hens and no roosters. As you can see this falls well within the restrictions imposed by [City name] ordinance [ordinance number].

[City name] ordinance [ordinance number] states "[quote the relevant part of the ordinance only]". I have only X female goats and no male goats. As you can see this falls well within the restrictions imposed by [City name] ordinance [ordinance number].

I request that you contact me to schedule an officer visit to verify that I am in compliance with current ordinances.

Sincerely
