Our new additions... (pic heavy)

Thanks... We thought about Luke too but decided he looked like a Hank

Your chicks are so adorable.

Isn't it funny how we all 'plan' on only getting a few , and end up with twice (or three times) as many.

Mine were 9 days old when I got them and the 'Leg stretch thingy' was so funny. They all do it and they stretch like that daily - I LOVE it!!!

Today I noticed one of mine laying down on it's side and then ended up on it's back, kinda like doing a roll over. Chicks are sooooo much fun.

Good Luck!!!

- oh yeah ... your brooder is awesome!!!

Congrats on the new chicks! I have a suggestion on the brooder. Since you have a dog you might want to put a latch on it to keep it closed securely. It looks like the dog would be able to push his nose under the lid to open it. Just a suggestion to protect the little chicks.

Great Chicklets. They have all the comforts of home. ( I read BYC for 6 months before I even logged on... weird)
ANYWAY

Those are some cute ones! Brooder looks awesome, and your pups are cute too. Especially the one pointing.

Congrats! They are adorable. And the stretching is normal. Sometimes they'll kick out a foot and a wing and stretch. And they also sometimes sleep on their sides which makes them look like a dead chicken.

felidaet - Thanks for the suggestion and the concern! We do have a latch on it and sometimes I can't even get in

I definitely wouldn't want anything bad happen to them. It's nice a secure

New2Chooks - OMGosh! One did this last night and scared me half to death!!!!

Does anyone know how long pasty butt lasts. About 7-8 chicks have it... 2 had it pretty bad this morning. All are drinking/eating 24/7... no one's acting sick or weak. I check each chick twice a day (morning and evening). What else can I do for them to keep them clean back there? Is this something that just passes with time? They're only 4 days old today.
