Gorgeous girl!!

I am so jealous right now! Congrats on great find.

OMG what a beauty! I love the look in her eye, it's the same as my sister's horse Tomas he loves to work too. He is a tattler too-I'm thinking of how she told you about the horse eating chickens. It's so cute! She must really see you as her person.

How smooth is her ride?

What are her bloodlines? She is one nice looking paso. If you are interested in joining an online paso forum americanpasofinos.com is great. They are the first forum I ever joined. They get together regularly and trail ride.

She is pretty smooth, her bloodlines are a combination of Columbian and Puerto Rican. She is by Premier de Chapiro out of Rocking M Zamora. Plebayo and a few other other well knowns in her bloodlines. I am told she has pretty decent bloodlines. I have a trainer friend who "if I am interested' will help me choose a stallion to complement her should I want to breed her. She is so solid in temperment and work ethic that I am sorely tempted for the future.

I am finding they are like potato chips, you can't just have just one. Now to convince hubby.

Gosh I wish i knew my girls bloodlines... I tried to find out but didn't get any response.

My girl is a rescue - origianlly from a breeder somewhere in CA - thats all I know. Rosie is a Peruvian Paso - and so sweet, but a real nervous nelly about anything new - she was pretty good with the chickens, but she arrived when they were still pretty small, so probably just looked like regular birds then!

Its great that you know where she came from!!!

I think I had seven Paso Finos a while back and enjoyed all of them. Some of them are Hilachas, Bolero LaCE, Guamani, Dulce Sueno, Muneco LaCE, full PR lines......never had a fino fino one tho except for my gelding I had once and he was soured doing the fino gait. If we let him go performance, he was happy as a lark. I wish I had some photos but didnt download any.

I have always loved the old timer Paso Finos like Bolero LaCE, Muneco LaCE, Hilachas, Resorte III, Mar de Plata LaCE, and hard to find some old time lines without crossing into the new ones of today like Plebeyo and Caprincho.

I am happy you like your mare, she is a pretty one! Pasochicken got a mare that I should have bought was Inesita....she would have been a great broodmare and a very sweet one that is!

Hope you enjoy her for the years to come!

She is lovely! We have an 8 year old mare that was ridden once as a three year old and then was recently put back under saddle about 14 days ago...I have ridden her just about every day now and I am now starting to ride her out to the woods! She is doing great! Pasos are renown for their tractability so your little one year lay up was nothing!! LOL! I have a disability and ride the 8 year old!!

In order to hold that wine in the glass, don't trot her! She must be in a fino gait either the fino-fino, the corto or the largo! (these three terms are for the paso fino gait at different sppeds, the fino-fino being the slowest forward movement in gait, the corto is comparable to the speed of a trot and the largo is the gait at gallop speeds or actually just a transition in speed above the corto. Pasos can largo fast! I have a mare that in her day could do 28 miles per hour and not miss a beat in gait!

As a rule of the breed Paso Finos do not trot although some of them may have a trotty or pacey gait due to improper trimming or shoeing!

They will walk, canter, fino and some will do what is called an anadura. They can also do anythign most any other breeds can do from barrel racing, cutting, jumping and driving, it just takes the owner to get them where they want to be and do!
Although the classic fino-fino horses, well, that is about all they care to do is that sloooow fino! If you want a verstile paso look for one that is pleasure type or performance!

I just posted one of our 3 year olds on the buy, sell, trade or giveaway forum with pic!

Can't remember how many pasos we have had...over 30 I guess! Love every one of them.
Our oldest is going to be 28, her son is going to be 20 and is still breeding mares! We have a few others too!

Good luck with your baby!

Paso, some of the Colombian Pasos do trot or trocha but it was the selected few....somewhat popular in Belize and some parts of Brazil. I can not imagine riding a Paso that trots but with some training, you can bring them back into gait. Some are lazy about it LOL. Becario was one of those Pasos that just like to slip into a trot once in a while when he gets lazy about it and I have to remind him to get back into the corto gait.

Not to mention your Peruvian mare....I have not yet ridden her so comparison would be a toss up between Fiesta and Millie.

We have never had a trocha horse nor a paso fino that trots here. If your paso is trotting, it is out of sync in the gait. Bring the head up...you might have to deal with nose out for a bit, but you can work back on the collection later. Same on a pacey paso fino horse. The rump MUST work under the horse. When the babies are butt high, they cannot gait properly. You need a little patience before the horse matures to have consistancy in the gait on a growing horse. And if the horse is not of proper conformation, he might not gait properly either. A lot depends on ow the individual is built.

To my knowledge the trocha and the trot are not one in the same. They are two different gaits and also anadura is another gait. The Peruvian Paso and teh Paso Fino are two seperate breeds wiht distinct gait as well.

The ride on a paso fino vs a Peruvian Paso is different but not by much. Personally, I enjoy the Peruvian just a bit more over the fino. Major difference is the termino or paddling of the hooves to the side in the two breeds. I kindof liken the Peruvian to be my Rolls Royce and the Paso Fino to be my Cadallac...both nice rides, but the style is distinctive! We have a 50/50 Peruvian/Pasofino fily and I would almost have to call her my Jaguar! She is awesome! Can't wait to ride her.. she is still a baby! We call the filly lightning legs! She is very quick and looks liek she is on a cloud with her white socks!

We have not had the classic fino-fino horses here. I prefer to raise largo horses that will eat up the trails and have great stamina and versatility.

Ewe, Fiesta is was an awesome largo horse and as you know her ride since you been on her, is very smooth. You are in for a treat on Milly. Her walk is like a boat on glass water compared to Fiesta and her walk in protest...Fiesta does not like to walk and prefers to gait.
