Our new Winter/Breeding Call Duck pens.

If you have a divider for the cage and cardboard you can make it work. split cage in half then take the cardboard and split one side in half from divider to end of cage.
put small holes (for bread ties or zip ties ) in cardboard to hold it in place on each side. That will work for you pretty good.
NO and I mean NO shavings!
use a feed bag for the bottom of the cage. It will be lots better and everyone will be happier.

Forgot the roofing comes in 3x8 or 3x12

I'm sitting here thinking since I'm not sure if I should put it long ways or wide? For dividing into 3 sections that is.
Or maybe have one wide in the back and 2 long ways in the front?
I'll figure it out. I'm out of shavings. Have been for 2 weeks. I'll probably just use straw.

Thanks to both of you.
I took a little from here and there to get the plains for them.
We can get up to 6ft of snow every year so had to get them off the ground.
They ar every happy to not have cold ground on their feet.

Those are very nice. Don 't know much about Calls. I do know they can fly, so does everyone keep them in something similar? They don't get to, for lack of a better term, be ducks? By that I mean roaming around, eating bugs, etc? I had always thought I might like a few, but now not sure if I would feel right that they could not be free to walk around.
Anyway, yours are adorable, and the pens are very well done.

Since we get alot of snow and cold winters with high winds I had my hubby build these so the calls could get off the cold ground and not freeze. They are also for breeding too. As I don't what everyone mixing. Once all that is done they get a area with a large kid pool to play in and be able to enjoy a ducks life. I had gotten them for my big pond but after loosing two ducks I pulled them off of it for safety.
I also plain to fence in the bottom so the can play in the sand and dirt too.
You just have to figure out what work for you and your ideas on how you would want you ducks to live.
Truthfully mine had been all together in a run and are much happier and quacking and playing more since they moved into it.
I would not have believed it if I had not seen it with my own eyes.
Thanks for your reply I do enjoy them very much.

We use similar breeding pens for our call show/breeding pairs and trios. We have an entire flock of pet calls who free range with the LF ducks. Just lip one wing so they don't go over the fence. They all come a running when called for too.
