it never did with our other batch a few years ago. but either way i do not see the harm in going and getting red lightbulbs or those big heat lamp style lamps.

Yes, white light can be more disturbing to them than red, but plenty of people raise chicks with plain old incandescent bulbs only. Another cause can be that they are too hot and this is making them irritable. Be sure they have plenty of space, and that they can move away from the heat source. They are actually better off being a little cool than a little hot.
