I discouraged my daughter from naming the turkeys. I was relieved when she named them Thanks and Chris for Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas dinner.

Thanks and Chris at three days.

They were purchased with the intent of processing for this holiday season. I guess we're playing the timing of that by ear - it's our first time raising turkeys. Personally, I like these guys too much to think about that right now!

If I had one of those meat scales or a fruit scale, I would weigh mine on that. I can't think of any other way. I guess you could put them on the scale in your bathroom huh?

Quote:
Stand on your bathroom scale, record that weight.
Grab a turkey and stand on scale again - that difference is the turkeys weight.

If you hold them by feet upside down they won't flop around or struggle.

Good idea. I may have to try that myself. I wonder what my weight is?

I don't want to know what my weight is! I just see how their body condition is and then see how much they weigh after I remove the innards...
