Today when cleaning out our 4'x4' coop I found an egg in the back corner!

We have 5 chickens - 3 ISA Browns, 1 Easter Egger (I forgot the breed name), and 1 Bantam which I was told 3 months ago that it might be a Porcelain D'uccle (you can see baby pictures of it in this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/761045/is-this-a-bantam-silkie ).

Attached is a couple pictures of the mystery egg. It's sort of pink or extremely light brown. You can see in the picture that it's about 1 3/4" long (so it's extremely small)!

We got our first 3 chicks (the 3 ISA Browns) on 3/24/13. We believe they were only a few days old. The other 2 (Easter Egger and Bantam) we got the following week and we believe both were only a few days old at the time. Therefore the ISA Browns are about 14 weeks old, and the other 2 are about 13 weeks.

We didn't expect any eggs until the very end of July at the earliest. I just opened up the egg box about 4 days ago. Unfortunately this egg was layed on the floor and not in the nest.

Questions -

1. Can anyone identify the one we believe is a Porcelian D'uccle? Is it really?
2. Are all 5 hen "looking". So far we haven't heard any rooster sounds so we hope they are all hens!
3. Which one do you think layed this egg?

Thank you!!!!

TO jimmywalt.....Your bantam is a Self Blue' d'Uccle and the egg came from the Front Isa Brown with the bright red comb.......It is not unusual for egg production hens to lay early, especially if they were hatched in the Spring..The other two ISAS will start in a few weeks....Good luck....

Thank you for the help on that! So can we eat these "early" eggs????

Thanks again.

Nope you can't these early ones. For the first month you can't. So you better ship them to me for proper disposal.

Like Chooks said, you can and should. Not only will they be the best tasting ever also highly rewarding. All the hard work comes to fruition with that first egg.

We got our 2nd egg yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!! It looked identical to our fist one on Tuesday.

That's 2 eggs (little ones) in 2 days!!! Hurray!!!
