honestly, i didn't expect to see any egg until mid August ?

yet.. here it is.. right in the run! all the hard work for the last 3+ months .. finally!!

kind of small though..

i guess it's time to switch from starter feed to layer feed..

not sure which chicken the egg was from though.

You can keep them on starter longer as long as it isn't medicated and just put out a separate bowl of oyster shells.

i have 2 hens that are 2-3 weeks younger than the other 3.. and about 1/2 of container of starter feed

That first egg is always eggciting, isn't it?

Anytime I have new pullets, I still get happy when I see their first eggs!

3 eggs so far

but it looks like only one of my hens is laying..

true.. it's getting bigger

they are still on starter feed..but no problem with the egg shells thus far.. which is kind of interesting.

i think i can keep them on starter feed until i'm done with the rest of the starter feed before switching over to layer feed..

i do let them free roaming around my backyard for 1-2 hours a day..so i think they got the calcium from somewhere...

this is odd..

after getting 4 eggs (1 each day), i thought there will be another one today.....

i checked in the coop and run ..but nothing

maybe the heat is the problem?

July and August are the hottest months here..
