I never thought I would be the one out in the rain checking on the chickens. My chicks are 6 weeks old and have only been in the coop for 5 days, so today we got our first rain during the day. My 3 year old asked me do you gotta check the chick chicks, mama with this sad look on his face. He told me it was raining real hard. So what do you think I did? I went outside with an umbrella in the pouring rain with treats for the chicken. 2 of the 6 were in the coop and the other four are under the coop. I had to abandon the umbrella to try to convince them to come to me but they were stubborn and stayed put. I noticed that the water is starting to seep to where they are located and I get the shovel and start moving the dirt so that the water is diverted from the chickens. I am now soaking wet and they are nice and dry. Later on once my teenager came home he went to check on them and now all of them are under the coop.
