Out of California in to Alabama, Yay!

My brother and sister moved there about 25 years ago. I thought they'd lost their minds. I finally went to visit and found it was really beautiful, the people were friendly, and my money goes a long way down there. Example; I bought a well appointed 2550' home on 1 acre right on Logan Martin Lake, for $300,000. Great fishing! My taxes are $980.00 yearly. Atlanta is only a bit over an hour away if I want big city entertainment. I live right outside Pell City which offers everything I need and again the people are incredible. The Bay Area has become so conjested, too impersonal, insanely expensive and I want to feel relaxed for a change. I still come to CA every few months to check on my company, but I am so happy when I go back home. I can relax.

It sounds like a great place!

I will add Alabama to possible places to move to when I retire

Welcome! That's a gorgeous rooster you have. :love

I've lived my whole life in California and I'm still here (have lots of ties here), but I am at least out of the Bay Area, now, and in the country part of CA. I sometimes think about moving out of state too. I long for green grass that grows without needing sprinklers 8 months of the year.
