What did you do in the garden today?

It's hot here. I watered some and picked a lot! Still have cucumbers growing from spring and producing really well. Enough I've shared them with my mom to make pickles, I made pickles and we both made relish. The plants are still healthy. The thing I think is working for them is their roots are in full shade , but the rest is in full sun. I have them planted on a East/West running 6 foot fence. The foot of the fence stays shade all day.

Ten day forecast predicts more cold nights near the end of the week. I caved and got some row cover cloth. Might bust out the Christmas lights to put under it too, we’ll see.
Wouldn't work here. We switched all our Christmas lights to LEDs years ago.

I didn't pick tomatillos Saturday. Worked on removing the cracking sky light on our old camping trailer.

Then went to a friend's for lunch and to play Magic the Gathering (a trading card game). I had not played with real cards in years, I somehow won a 4 person game. I usually play on the computer, and not very often.

Yesterday I got the new skylight installed and first layer of sealant on. Resealed the shower in the camper. Trying to get the camper ready to sell. Another week or two and it'll be ready to go.

In the garden I did a soil drench on the first garden bed. Made sure the soil got drenched all the way to the bottom of the garden bed. I need to finish pulling out all the plants so I can drench the rest of the garden beds. Just chipping away at things as I can.

Starting in October DH will be working 12 hour days, 6 days a week. That schedule will be for 6 weeks. We're spending time as a family as much as we can before DH only sees us at bedtime. So the next two weekends will be pretty busy.

Picked 2 persimmons yesterday and still a little pucker. Let them ripen more indoors. Meader variety. Can be seedless but a few seeds sometimes. Produces a few male flowers. No wild ones in my area.
