Last night I let the dog out in the fenced part of the yard. She took off after something and would not come in. I let her stay out awhile. This morning, I see a dead coon on the edge of the road. I guess he was in a hurry and got hit by a car.

I still have pickle jars from last year. I need to eat more sandwiches.......It's hot here. I watered some and picked a lot! Still have cucumbers growing from spring and producing really well. Enough I've shared them with my mom to make pickles, I made pickles and we both made relish. The plants are still healthy. The thing I think is working for them is their roots are in full shade , but the rest is in full sun. I have them planted on a East/West running 6 foot fence. The foot of the fence stays shade all day.

If you crack open the seeds from a persimmon tree the inside part of the seed has three options. A spoon= deep snow that winter. A knife= the wind will cut like a knife????

A fork = a light winter. Just an old wives tale and is only for the region it grows in .
