Out of dog food. What would you do?

The OP wasn't asking about how to fast her dog, so I'm glad that she got a lot of advice on acceptable foods, but it IS safe and very normal to fast dogs. Many of us who feed raw do not feed every day. In my house the growing puppies get fed every day but the adults often fast a day or two a week. I've got some very easy keepers, and I'd rather have them be able to fill up and then fast, which is how their bodies are built, than have them never eat enough to be full.

My girl Clue, who is the type who gets fat on nothing, is currently eating every other day so she doesn't blow up like a balloon. She was eating the same amount when she finished her championship, so clearly it hasn't hurt her.

There's a Puli breeder I know who only feeds twice a week; each dog gets a whole prey animal or something the same size (rabbit or chicken or hunk of beef or something). The dogs gorge the first day, chew on bones the second, fast the third and sometimes the fourth. His dogs look amazing.
