Out of several breeds, seems like Black Austrolorps are the bravest

My BAs are very brave as well. Not only do they come to "check out" what I'm putting into their feeder, but they are the most vocal. They are always cheeping soooo loudly, I think something is wrong & then I realize its just my BAs.

My Silver-Laced Wyandottes are also fairly brave, they seem to be real sweet.

Yep, the BAs are the bravest in my brooder, too. The others used to run from my hand, but the 2 BAs jump toward it. They were the first to fly to the top of the brooder when I take the screen off the top, and they seem to like being picked up and held on my lap when I'm sitting in front of the brooder talking to everypeep. The next bravest ones are my Barred Rocks.

Nice to read this thread -- I was starting to wonder about my 1 week BA. She is a bit of a pistol! Also when do they loose all that yellow? Mine has more white and yellow than black. Can't wait to get her "treat-trained"! I agree with Augustx2mom --next in my line up would be the SLW also quite brave. Also very chirpy -- earning her the name "Cricket"!

Ya'll like BA's you HAVE to try Delawares OMG. I got mine from a small flock, and getting some from a hatchery and two I am getting will be heritage flock birds. Regardless of origin these suckers take the cake. Hooligans and pirates and sweethearts all mixed up.

I sit in the Delawares brooder and they're flinging themselves in my lap onto my hands - WATCHA GOT??? The girls peep at me the boys want to seehow high they can get on me and then practice flying from me to the roost.

Seriously you think BA's are loud and friendly get some of the freaking flying popcorn balls. You will NOT be sorry. It's like each has the energizer bunny inside. Demented popcorn.

I love my BAs but Dels are also always going to be around OMG.

My BA's are pretty hardy in all respects. Can't say they were mean chicks to people, more pushy with each other. It was funny to watch them vie for the top spot on my arm and shoulder. They are very adoring of those who bring them food and they all start looking for food when they hear the back door open. Very smart and unafraid for a chicken I'd say. I love mine.
