Out of the brooder - into the coop

I never confirmed mine to the coop. My first batch were the only ones I didn't brood in the coop but when I moved them to the coop I put in a light. As the sun set I would turn it on and they would be drawn to it. after a few nights they got the idea

I never restrict my babies to the coop when I move them outside. I've never done that to any of my flocks. After about 4 days of sticking them in at night, they knew what to do! I never had to worry again. :D
I'm the same. I have 5 that I gave a Broody in the coop. I never moved her either. She uses 1:3 nesting boxes. She makes sure no one harms her babies. Wow! Does she ever. She has to have here babies in the box before anyone else can come in. Lol
I made the other girls a new nesting area in the run because nobody can pass old Ms. Broody girl n her chicks. She's like a "Bridezilla!". No joke hahaha!
The first day, she took them out, then in the evening only maybe 1-2 followed. So I'd gather the rest and keep my hands on each side one by one as they walked up the ramp as they were peeping, she was calling. Then I'd do the same. Each night more would go in. Then Whaa- la!! They all went in, then the auto door closed. I made sure they always have feed and cold fresh water. Its way to hot here in Florida not to have access to water in the coop at 3 - 4 weeks old.

Even my adults sometimes have a scrabble for the best roosting spot. It doesn't last very long and soon they're all fast asleep.
