Outdoor perches

Seems a bit silly to buy them but I want to get just the right size so I'll probably end up doing that.
I wouldn't stress about it too much....mine roost on 2x4 wide side up and 2x2 in coop, and perch on 2x2's and 2" diameter branches in run.

Chickens can use round roost bars just fine. Folks on here have experimented with their flocks, trying different types of bars in different locations, and it seems the location of the perch is what matters most to chickens.
Yes, and easy access up and especially down.....needs good landing space.

Ah ok got it- easy access, location-will keep that in mind! Thanks all, will see if I can move some stuff around and see if they go on them before I think about getting different perches.

If you watch the chickens fly up and down from a perch you will see that they can fly UP almost vertical but on the way DOWN they fly at a 45° or shallower angle and need a step or two to stop after landing. So a clear area the perch height + a couple of chicken steps is the minimum clear area needed to fly down and land without bumping into things.

My last flock loved to perch on branches and just relax, some times they’d preen on the 2x4

Thanks for that info JT-they have quite a lot of room in their pen so should have the room to land.
Brahma-lovely pics of your flock thanks!
