The problem is
Brinsea is charging more than real shipping prices. They are making a profit off of their shipping, not just their products. I understand adding a
reasonable handling charge to the cost of shipping, for packaging and time involved in shipping; however, what
Brinsea charges for all is more than reasonable. That said, I did recently purchase a
Brinsea incubator, though I will get the turner elsewhere. I would rather have bought the incubator from the company itself, in case there was ever a problem, it eliminates some hassle getting a repair or replacement. I took advantage of the current sale, and a 10% off coupon in order to get more bang for my buck.
I don't believe the OP is looking for a free ride, so I think that is a bit uncalled for. We can all go to the UPS website, and calculate real shipping costs. The incubator was shipped from Rockledge, Florida (32955) to Milwaukee for me (53211) in an package marked as 8lb. The cost
Brinsea charged me was 24$ shipping for that incubator. The actual costs incurred were 15.62$. Because the packaging was simple, nothing more than a cardboard box with no styrofoam inserts, packing peanuts, etc. so packaging costs very little. So, I would expect reasonable shipping and handling charges to be 20$. If a person is ordering more than one item, there should not be a separate 24$ cost, but instead, the two items combined and the total weight calculated into shipping, plus a
reasonable packaging and labor cost. Am I making sense? This is what most companies do, so why
Brinsea isn't on the ball with the system, I have no idea. But, as long as customers like ourselves continue to buy without balking too much, then nothing will change.
