outrageous shipping charges for Brinsea

If you write that guy, he will work with you and will combine shipping. I just bought a incubator with turner and a hatcher and with shipping the whole thing was less then 150, I think less then 125 I would have to look. Shipping per box was 12.00

Sorry...everyone wants a free ride.
Yes, shipping is totally free...you free loaders!
This is why I don't offer "Free eggs" for the cost of postage. Once I say...free eggs, then people want to turn $8 worth of postage into a dollar worth of delivered eggs.

It cost real money to send "FREE" eggs to your P.O. box!

Are people really that stupid?

Fred's Hens :

They are not made in the US? Thus, "shipping" takes on all new meaning? Something to think about.

CORRECT AND INCORRECT--- THEY ARE HOUSED AND SHIPPED FROM THEIR LOCATION IN TITUSVILLE FLORIDA. THE SHIPPING FROM THE UK IS INCORPORATED INTO THE PRICE YOU PAY FOR THE UNIT... HOWEVER THE SHIPPING FROM THEIR DISTRIBUTION CENTER HERE IN THE US IS AN ADDED CHARGE

JJ makes a good observation as usual -- I also noticed postal rates went up in January. Maybe their shipping charges are on the higher side but Ive been very happy with the Brinsea incubators I have.

Never said I was looking for a free ride. Combining multiple items in a box to ship cost less than shipping each item individually. Just looking for fairness. Intelligence has nothing to do with fairness.

The problem is Brinsea is charging more than real shipping prices. They are making a profit off of their shipping, not just their products. I understand adding a reasonable handling charge to the cost of shipping, for packaging and time involved in shipping; however, what Brinsea charges for all is more than reasonable. That said, I did recently purchase a Brinsea incubator, though I will get the turner elsewhere. I would rather have bought the incubator from the company itself, in case there was ever a problem, it eliminates some hassle getting a repair or replacement. I took advantage of the current sale, and a 10% off coupon in order to get more bang for my buck.

I don't believe the OP is looking for a free ride, so I think that is a bit uncalled for. We can all go to the UPS website, and calculate real shipping costs. The incubator was shipped from Rockledge, Florida (32955) to Milwaukee for me (53211) in an package marked as 8lb. The cost Brinsea charged me was 24$ shipping for that incubator. The actual costs incurred were 15.62$. Because the packaging was simple, nothing more than a cardboard box with no styrofoam inserts, packing peanuts, etc. so packaging costs very little. So, I would expect reasonable shipping and handling charges to be 20$. If a person is ordering more than one item, there should not be a separate 24$ cost, but instead, the two items combined and the total weight calculated into shipping, plus a reasonable packaging and labor cost. Am I making sense? This is what most companies do, so why Brinsea isn't on the ball with the system, I have no idea. But, as long as customers like ourselves continue to buy without balking too much, then nothing will change.

IMHO, Brinsea incubators are the best ones for the price. Even with the exorbitant shipping charges, they are still hands down the best incubator for the money. If they were smart, they would raise the price of their incubator a little more, charge less for shipping and people would stop complaining. OR, they could raise the price of the incubator a LOT and offer free shipping, like so many other places do.

I'd rather pay a little extra for shipping since we don't get taxed on that... just my opinion though.
