Outside Time

Oh wise folks,

Chicks are 3.5 weeks. I had them briefly in the yard a few days ago for about 10 minutes while I cleaned the brooder. But I worried that it might be too cool. Today is cloudy and about 60 degrees. Would they be ok for a while outside?

Yeah. I take mine for daily "walks" in the yard at that age. They're usually fine if it's sunny. As long as they're scratching about and making contented noises, they're okay.

I took ours out today too - similar weather, pretty warm in the sun. They seemed fine!

Absolutely. I've had much younger chicks outside with those temps. They'll want to warm up after being out but they'll be fine being away from heat for a little bit here and there.
