OVA-Easy Cabinet Vs. GQF Sportsman

IMO, OSB particle board is wood waste with glue holding it together, solid wood or a 5 -7 ply plywood would be better and it also depends on the project. But glue/wood pressed together holds very little heat or humidity.
High injection molds or a 1/8" oak ply molded to styrofoam adds to much money for what some would debate an insulation disadvantage/advantage...Let me ask you...Why doesn't a Log Home using only a 6" wall need insulation? Because wood is an excellent insulator...
Give me a Dickey for the money.

The R-value of oak is about 0.91 per inch, for particle board it is 1.31 (about 50% better) and for styrofoam it's about 4.0.

Holding heat isn't the issue, and humidity has nothing to do with it.

The insulation properties are what help keep the internal temperature stable.

1/8th oak ply is about $20 for an 8 x 4 sheet, Styrofoam is half that, and formica can be had from 50c a sq ft.

How much would you think oak is, for that amount of material?

You can have your Dickey, I already said I would buy one .... but solid wood is demonstrably inferior to both particle board and laminate, and it costs more. GQF are the ones with questions to answer, they should e cheaper than the Dickey.

We have agreed to disagree and to agree again...you are right GQF should be cheaper. I'm seriously thinking of making 100 incubators based on 2" thick Cedar Cabinet...at least I'm costly it out...
Thanks for the great conversation....God Bless

I have made incubators of 3/4" plywood,3/4"plywood with 3/4"foam & 1/4" plywood foam sandwich.
They all worked about the same.Incubators are not closed systems . The warm air is constantly being replace with cool air through the vents. Insulation is most useful in power out situations. Will hold the heat longer.

Hi Steve

, Yesterday I got a call to look at a Bator so I when. It was a GQF Prof. It looked good. I ask the man what do you want for it. He said $75 to 100. So I pulled out the billfold and give him a 100. It has the clear door, 5 gal water, Quails and chukar trays, 6 moist pad and a med sz box with parts. So now I have two Big boys. LOL. The New sportsman should be here today or Friday.

Sounds good to me.

I only suggest Formica for the inside because it is so easy to clean well.
