Over excited/ impatient due to hatch 28th May

Lil bit of sad news, I ended up cracking the egg open at day 30-something and there was a dead fully formed chick. It was going to be a splash color too it looked black with a few tan colored feathers, poor lil chick.

That's why I like broodies, rather than bators. The broodies do all the work and I just sit back and wait for hatch day.

We have set 3 and its our 1st time with a broody hen. 1st time ever. Due 2nd June. Very excited. Candles them and as far as I can see they're growing. Fingers crossed

Today the first of last year's hatch became a hen (she was 2 days early) and she is broody now.
