We have a very large and fenced in backyard with a few chickens. Recently a CO worker informed me he had 2 turkeys 3yrs old in a small cage he needed to rehome. These are white turkeys both female and although they were fed well due to no exercise they gained an enormous amount of wait probably about 35-40 pounds each. Due to the combination of the weight and I believe rarely ever moving around a lot we simply placed them in the backyard and they have barely moved 5' in the past 2 days but seem content. Should we just continue feeding them and let them be and hopefully they will begin to move around a bit more and begin losing weight?

Sounds like they are broad breasted white, which are a meat bird meant to be harvested at 16 to 20 weeks.

Restricted feed and exercise.
Breeders don't feed them every day, which I am not advocating. Feed what they can eat in 10 to 20 minutes 2x a day.
Don't overdo exercise. If they are hungry they probably will move around looking for food.
They are prone to leg and heart problems and have lived longer than most. I had to put down a BBB because she got too big for her legs at 18 months
