Overgrown beak!

I have a 1.5 year old Deleware hen. Her beak looks like the tip is a little long. I have never had a chicken with an overgrown beak. Is it possible?

Do I just take a fine grit nail file and smooth it down?

Yep. You can file, or use a nail trimmer:
