Contrary To What Some Folks Think Cat Food Is Actually Quite Bad For Quail

Depends on the cat food. I bet the stuff they were giving her has lots and lots of corn in it.​

Personally, I'd get an officer down there after taping them feeding them, with a "No Feeding" sign visible before spending money on multiple fences.

Hi everybody, I just got online for the first time in a while, I've been hunting. About the neighbors they think that they need seed and cat food. They won't leave them alone at all. They have done this for a while now and they said that they would keep doing it until I got them the right feed.

Do the neighbors own quail?Or do they think there just right feeding the quail whatever they want.....what have you been feeding them?

In my well-mispent youth, I had a macrobiotic ex-junkie house-share who secretly fed my 60kg dog (big, mellow boy!) leftover vegetables and bread, which he of course lapped up. She wasn't going to quit it as she was on a mission, so I parked the dog with a friend (before he goes crazy with guilt over fouling the house every night) and moved house that week and my dog never again used the house as a loo.

There is no reasoning with such people, and if you build the fence they'll probably climb it or end up stealing your animals. Don't waste time assuming at unreasonable people will act reasonable if you lead with a good example...!

I don't know about the law in your neck of the wood, but, in the UK, I'd send them a registered letter asking them to stop trespassing and to stop abusing the animals on my property. At the same time, I'd hang up a surveillance camera (get those rather cheap now) and just film them, then hand the evidence over to the cops. Also get the vet to attest that the hen was fattened into bad health or take a picture of the bird and the resulting eggs . And if you can, and if it's legal, get a cheap MP3 player that records -- perfect to document a discussion with the harassers discreetly.
