Do they really work? I don't want to put a net over top of my run because it is huge and it would be expensive.

Sometimes they do. Just make sure the chickens can't see it because they are afraid of owls also. The best thing is a sheltered area such as a bush that the chickens can hide under if they feel threatened.

They work for mice and some birds but most predators could care less. Owls attract crows and crows eat chicks. I don’t think it’s a good idea if you’re just trying to keep predators away.

We have a two trees, and a shrub in the run. Our coop is also on a slight hill so the birds can go under the coop as well. We only have a problem when the birds are small and a Coopers hawk takes them. I have 9 of the 22 new hens. I over order for that reason. I think a chicken tractor for the girls until they are grown up enough that the hawk leaves them alone.
Thanks for the input and saving me the money:frow
