oxine... anyone used it?

As far as intestinal flora, Oxine is not an antibiotic, so I'm not sure there would be a real issue. I don't leave it in the water all the time; they're not consuming it constantly. I put it in waterers every few times, not all the time. When they breathe it in, it gets into their lungs, not their intestines, so doubt it has much affect in that regard. If they are not able to breathe due to a fungus in their lungs/trachea, the last thing on my mind is their gut flora. It's a good question, though!

I just started using it a few days ago. Handheld spray bottle on finest mist setting to mist walls coop floors and the birds themselves. U am very pleased.

Ok just to clarify. When you say you use it in the waterers, you use it to clean only or clean and leave it in for them to drink also?

Cool mist vaporizer

That's why I asked because a hot mist would deliver only pure water to the coop and not the medicine in question! I wanted to make sure that was clear because even in the gardening world, there are things you can give to your plants that will help them but it can't be a hot mist because the medicine never boils off with the water, it remains like a mineral.

Target has ultrasonic humidifiers fairly cheap... I need to get get one. They have one that looks like a penguin, perfect for the coop!

So you're reading this correctly, you dose the water itself, not to just clean the waterer.

I occasionally put it in the waterers when I refill them to leave it in for them to drink. 1/8 teaspoon per gallon in the plastic waterers. I have 3 and 5 gallon waterers, plus a few 1 gallon waterers. I especially pay attention to hot, humid weather when bacteria, molds and fungi thrive.
