Oxycodone? No thanks!

Having overcome a few addictions in my life (not opiates) I can honestly say the reason why people want to take these things everyday is escape. You say that it makes you feel like you have wasted the whole day, well that's the point. Most people with addictions have big holes in their souls that need mending and until that hole is mended all they want to do is run away and escape reality. Most don't even understand the reasons why they feel the way they do or why they don't care about life. I had a point in my life where I really didn't care if I woke up or not. Unless you know addiction personally there is no possible way for anyone to understand what that is like.

Didn't mean to get on a soapbox or take this thread in a different direction but the question was asked and I just felt compelled to give my answer.

Edited to add I have been clean and sober since May 29, 2001. I just want anyone out there reading this to know that it is okay and that I am available to private message if you ever need to talk about the subject. God Bless

oxycodone is the same thing as a percocet. either way they make me sick to my stomach. when I had my kidney stone 2 years ago and wound up in the er I was given morphine , then they sent me home with oxycontin. I flushed them in the toliet. I cant even take tylenol 3 with codine, that is what they gave me when I had my teeth cut out. either way no matter which one it is they are still highly addictive.

Depending on what they use as a binder with the oxycodone determines what drug it turns into. For example if they bind it with acetaminophen then you get percocet. If they use aspirin for a binder then you get percodan or Roxiprin. There are other binders but yeah that is how oxycodone is used in the creation of other medications.

I was given a script for them after having breast surgery..bad stuff..I took one and was so sick and spacey..I said never again!! I recently had a tooth pulled was given hydrocodone..I handed it back to the dentist and ask for something else..I got Tylenol..worked fine.

I can't imagine wanting to feel the way it made me feel/

You know I was thinking about this and I really don't understand why they find the need to give out bottles of medicines so strong that they alter a person to the point that they can no longer function. These medicines are good and needed in some situations but most of those situations I feel are situations that the person should be hospitalized for such as burn victims. I have a neighbor with arthritis and her doctor gives her 3 month supplies at a time of Percocet, valium, and flexerill (i probably spelled that wrong) all this for ARTHRITIS??? Like I said before OVERKILL!!!!! Modern medicines are good if used when they are actually needed but hey if a teaspoon of honey or a cup of herbal tea or some sort of vitamin supplement will fix it then what the heck? Why kill your liver and God knows what else when a simple asprin or a few advil would have been just as good. I applaud you all for thinking before just eating up whatever the "Doctor" gave you. After all doctors put their pants on one leg at a time just like the rest of us. They are human and too often people forget that they are NOT all knowing Gods.

i like them all but in small, sometimes half doses. my dr. gives me vicodin for strep throat in addition to antibiotics. Oxycodone/Oxycontin both are extremely strong and i would only take them after being shot, ran over by a car or hit by a train. no need for something that strong in my opinion. but vicodin i love.

I am allergic to all narcotics like that...
oxy
codine
Vicodin
morphine

ect ect.... its good ole Tylenol or Motrin for me or nothin

good luck with yr cut...
