Oxycodone? No thanks!

Yes, and it makes me very, very sick. I had my wisdom teeth taken out about 4 years ago and didn't take any of the pain meds because I felt worse on them than off.

My sister was the same way. She couldn't walk when she took the script oxycodone, so she took Motrin instead.

I don't like that feeling either, to me it feels like when you start coming down with the flu. Just makes me feel icky.

I don't know what you're washing with that is hurting so much, but I always prefer just to do warm salt water soaks. The warmpth and salt promote healing, and kill enough germs to let your body take care of things. Also if possible let it air dry as much as you can (without getting it dirty or more injured). I've got plenty of scars that I healed with butterfly bandages and saline soaks and no pills.

Just to clarify- yes, Oxycodone is in Oxycontin but in extended release formula. It's also what is in percodan/ percocet- just the regular strength/ non long-actinf formulas. Hydrocodone, which is in Vicodin, is very similar, and just about as addictive. Either one would give similar pain relief with a wound like that. Probably not overkill, the way it was prescribed-- for pain relief so the wound can be cleaned out. Probably just needed for a couple days to make sure it gets cleaned well, and not infected.

Oxy is given in a time release formula. The pills are not suppose to be broken when consumed. That is why people become "high" from them and addicted. They take the pills and split them open causing the ingredients to be ingested all at once given them the rush.

Initially, just irrigating with warm tap water was too much for me. Funny how such a small wound can hurt so much, but I think because it's right over the bone, maybe. I just let it bleed and hoped that would be enough to clean it out.
It's not as painful today and I did ok just taking the ibuprofen. As long as I'm not touching it, it doesn't hurt much. It's just going to be difficult trying to let it heal and keep it clean while caring for the chickens, dogs, and of course, working. Lots wiggly patients to care for.

These are scored tablets, not capsulses, and the pharmacist told me I could take half if I needed to. Were you talking about capsules?

Well, when I filet'd my thumb I worked at WalMart and you talk about dirty... Soaking doesn't hurt nearly as bad as running water over it, at least I don't think so. The warm water is relaxing once you adjust to it. What I did was soak it 2-3x a day when it was convenient, and let it air dry as much as possible. I used a butterfly thingy to close up the skin, but I would cover it in gauze and then duct tape whenever I had to work. I wore rubber gloves for dishwashing too. I let it air out overnight just with the butterfly over it. Maybe you can air it out at night?

Crushing, breaking, chewing, splitting, or dissolving OxyContin destroys the special slow-release feature of the tablets. All the medication will be released at once. This could easily cause an overdose. A fatal OxyContin overdose is possible.

Lol. When I had to go in to get a cap for my tooth, it hurt so bad that it felt like a mac truck smashed into my face. I stopped eating and everything. They put me on antibiotics to clear up the minor infection, and oxycodone to relieve the pain. I was to take one every four hours. Let's just say that I know how you feel, but I wasted over a week. There were two days in a row that I only crawled out of bed to go to the bathroom. But, if I had to do it all over again, you're darned tootin' that I'd be taking those pills again. That sucker HURT!
