Yes, and it makes me very, very sick. I had my wisdom teeth taken out about 4 years ago and didn't take any of the pain meds because I felt worse on them than off.
My sister was the same way. She couldn't walk when she took the script oxycodone, so she took Motrin instead.
I don't like that feeling either, to me it feels like when you start coming down with the flu. Just makes me feel icky.
I don't know what you're washing with that is hurting so much, but I always prefer just to do warm salt water soaks. The warmth and salt promote healing, and kill enough germs to let your body take care of things. Also if possible let it air dry as much as you can (without getting it dirty or more injured). I've got plenty of scars that I healed with butterfly bandages and saline soaks and no pills.
Initially, just irrigating with warm tap water was too much for me. Funny how such a small wound can hurt so much, but I think because it's right over the bone, maybe. I just let it bleed and hoped that would be enough to clean it out.
It's not as painful today and I did ok just taking the ibuprofen. As long as I'm not touching it, it doesn't hurt much. It's just going to be difficult trying to let it heal and keep it clean while caring for the chickens, dogs, and of course, working. Lots wiggly patients to care for.
