Hello! I have a speckled Sussex pullet that had what appeared to be blood in her poop this morning. The poop in general looked good, nothing super runny or discolored. What I did notice is she has this stringy orangey stuff on it. It wasn't super thick but looked kinda jelly like. Not sure exactly what it is, my girl has been acting normal and eating still! So nothing out of the ordinary in that manner. I did just go pick up some "Oxytetracycline" (HCI) a soluble powder - broad spectrum antibiotic. Not sure if I should give it to her? Or if I'm overreacting? I would play pictures but I can't find how to upload them.. Thanks for the help everyone!!

Welcome to BYC!

When mine poop like that I worm them with Safeguard liquid or paste at 0.23ml per pound orally for five days and I treat them with Corid. If you haven't already opened it, I'd say take it back and exchange it for some Safeguard and Corid. Both can be found in the cattle, goat and horse sections of most feed stores. If the don't have Corid, look for AmproMed or Amprol instead.

So I did some calculations on this powder. If a package has 20 tablespoons the 800 mg dose is 5 teaspoons, but if it contains 18 tablespoons, the 800mg dose is 1.5 tablespoons.
