Actually, it is not. They made a serious error. I've called them and talked about it and I think the dosing info has been removed from their current brochure. The dosage of 1/8 tsp in a gallon of water is way too low. If you look above you will see that the company replied to Linda that:
400mg dosage is 1 and ¼ level tablespoons per gallon of water.
800mg dosage is 2 and ½ level tablespoons per gallon of water.
Antibiotics diluted in water are supposed to be the only drinking water available to the bird during the treatment. The bird drinks as much water as it requires during the day, and receives the right amount of antibiotic for their bodyweight. (The logic being that smaller birds drink a lot less per day than bigger birds.)
Is your rooster isolated, or with the rest of the flock? If he is on his own then you can treat him easily, but if he is in with other birds then you will have to treat the whole flock.
Use 1.25 teaspoons per quart.I'm only treating 1 rooster. What dosage should I give him daily. I already mixed my gallon. I'm using oxytetracycline. Thanks.
You're welcome!Thank you so much. I've been worried about him. I took him to the vet & they wanted to put him under antistegia & do a scope. I wasn't comfortable with that. I'm doing everything possible to keep them all happy & healthy.
