oyster shells?

oyster shells... they are for calcium, right? can any other shell be used?

say you live by a river and the otters use your shore line as a deposit station for their hundreds and hundreds of clam shells... could those be used for anything by chance? lol. We already crush and add to the compost... just curious is they can be used for chickens somehow or if they could be dangerous at all
 
Calcium carbonite comprises all mollusk shells including freshwater clams. I see no reason why you can't use crushed clam shell instead of crushed oyster shell.
