I would guess they're NH reds. Our RIR are much darker at hatch.

eta - packing peanuts doesn't always mean roos. Did the hatchery say they sent you roos as extras for warmth? Some will just throw in whatever they have extra of.

Well now I don't know what to think. I would at least think they are males because the invoice is ink-stamped to say "Males Included For Warmth", but at this point who knows? I'll have to advertise them as probably males of unknown breed. Me thinks they will just wind up on someones dinner table before too long anyway. . . sigh . . . .

I have only received packing peanuts from ideal once. On the invoice attached to the box...they wrote "barred rock males added for warmth". Have you looked at your packing list?

I keep looking at this invoice wishing it said more about them. Anyway I put the five of them up on Craig's List as NHR or RIR with photos for $10.00. I think I have a buyer already, waiting for a call.

I have ordered from Ideal twice and have recieved packing peanuts both times. Neither time was the breed of the PP's specified. However, the first time there were a few females mixed in with a larger number of roos. (EEs) The second time there was one female and 5 male BRs.
