packing peanuts question...

I guess this begs the question regarding- variation within a hatchery. I have an order with a hatchery that I wished to order 18 birds from and they said I would receive 7-9 packing peanuts as well. I just ordered more birds instead.

However, another member mentioned that they ordered 14 and didn't receive any packing peanuts. Another mentioned ordering 21 or so - so maybe it has to do with time of year, region of the country etc?

thanks for the answers! i placed an order with cackle today, 25 mottled houdans. oh im so excited. pretty babies. theyll be here the 25th... =O( sooooo long to wait

From what i understand they add packing up to 25 depending on the weather. The main reason they use packing is for heat. I just got my order of 12 this morning and recieved 7 RIR's as packing..BTW>>I ordered from Ideal Hope this helps

I went in on an order of 25 of several different breeds. Order came on Monday. We ordered from McMurray, and had them throw in the "free rare chick" for heat. So there's an order of 26. They still threw in two peanuts. There was an extra RIR and Australorp in there.

Has anyone ordered from "mypetchicken.com"? They allow a minimum order of 8 chicks to my area. They say they put a heat pack in with the chicks so no "peanuts" necessary. I only want to start out with 8 or 9 as I am new to chickens . . . help please!

We all said we only wanted a few. But like they say...they are like potato chips. Once you start you just want more. Got our first order yesterday morning and by last nite we were talking about what kind to order next.(We just wanted a couple). The ppl here are great but they are enablers. lol

I asked Mt. Healthy about packing peanuts and they said I would not get any in my order of 15 Arucuana's....

I'll know for sure when they get here week after next....

Yes, this is true. We here at BYC ARE enablers of the chicken kind. hee hee hee... Welcome to the club!!!!
