Hi, I'm new to all this but at the moment need help. I have an almost 3 month old Ancona Duck who got injured last night and my vet cant take me till 2pm tomorrow, is there any type of pain medication I may have at home that can assist . He has a leg injury. Thank you for any information

I am not familiar with ducks, but aspirin can be used in poultry. 1/2 of a low dose 81 mg aspirin is a normal dose for a grown chicken. Tylenol should never be used. Most vets prescribe meloxicam for pain and anti inflammation. Do you have any pictures or a description of the leg injury? Is there a wound? I will tag @Miss Lydia and @Isaac 0 for more help.

If you have any Meloxicam, ketoprofen, or carprofen, you could use that, but if you're able to see the vet tomorrow, I'm unsure If I'd start her on an NSAID. There may be complications if the vet wants to change the NSAID since you'd be abruptly stopping the medication. If you think she's in really bad pain, you could get some DMSO gel from your local feed store like TSC, and apply a generous coating to the area.
