In my new mini coop I'm painting and I could easily paint the 2x3 I plan to use as the roost. In my existing coop I painted everything but not the rrost and even though I scrape poop off it when neccesary, its not as easily cleanable as it would be if it were sealed with paint. I know I wouldn't want to make the rrost slippery, but what about one thin coat of semigloss just to make cleaning a bit easier in the future?

Alot of people have them painted, it will be fine!

I have never seen the point in it, since if you scrape the roost regularly enough that paint matters, it will get scraped off fairly soon, and be hard to replace; but if you just like painting things, I see no active *harm* in it either

Good luck, happy painting,
