Hi everyone, I no many probably won't post on here but I just wanted to give it a try. I think I'm going to get a turtle in a few months but don't no much about em. So any help or advice will be thanked very much. So so far I'm wondering if a 20 gallon tank is big enough for a adult painted turtle???? Its a old fish tank we found last year in the basement. Its in very good condition still but I'm wondering if it's big enough.?!. If not where can I get a cheap glass bigger tank? Also what food is recommended or best for it? I will probably have more questions as I go but for now I think these are the major ones. If not please I would love any and all advice and comments! Thanks everyone! [IMG]

Ive kept baby painted turtles in a 20 gallon. They seemed ok....but for an adult, I would go bigger. I fed turtle feed pellets and some cuttle bone for calcium.

A 40 g wide would be good. That would give him room to turn around.

    I would recommend a 50 gallon tank.
For food do mealworms or superworms, and different kinds of vegetables.

Well a 40 g is 18" wide, and a 50 is i think 12" wide. I would think that the extra 6" would be appreciated space.

Ok thanks! [IMG][IMG] I think I'm going to get the 40 gallon but I'm not sure yet I want the best for my new pet! I saw some turtle pellets at the store, are these good???

Okay good! Yes and no, most turtles eat alive and moving food.
