We have started painting the inside of our coop. We are using Kilz oil based outdoor primer. We will use a latex outdoor paint on top of it. My question is should we do one or two coats of primer? We know we will be doing 2 coats of the latex. The shed is a typical shed made with OSB board.

I had read on a previous post to do at least 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of the latex.

i used one coat of primer. 2ish coats of 'finish'
It wasn't high gloss like i was hoping so IMO make sure that it is. Primer is pretty thick, but if you're worried, it can't hurt to use 2.
Our floor is just plywood.

I used one kilz latex primer and 1 latex finish. It covered good but I kind of wish I had 2 finish at least on the floor. But I was too eager to finish it and was tired of all the many steps to getting everything painted.

There is normally no point in doing more than one coat of primer, unless you are trying to kill persistant show-through or bleeding stains, such as bad knots or graffiti or whatever.

So, one thinnish coat of primer, then 2 thinnish coats of paint (rarely, a third is necessary, like if you want something really really black). You want thinnish coats of everything so it doesn't go all peely in a year or two.

Use a roller for the OSB and expect it to take a lot more paint than, say, plywood or boards would (b/c of the rough and absorbant surface)

Good luck, ahve fun,

Pat

Thanks, I think I will only do one coat of primer. I still have to do 2 coats of the latex paint.
