I'm working on building my roost for my coop. It will be on a shelf with sides that is filled with Sweet PDZ (inspired by the success of another member!). I was curious about painting the inside of the 'litter box' and the roost with either regular paint or blackjack rubberized roof coating (which will be used on the floor, already had a 5 gal bucket handy) to make cleaning easier. Would this pose any problems? All I could think of is the chickens possibly scratching up the roof coating...

The roost will be 68 inches long for 6 hens, made from a 2x4 with rounded edges.

I like the idea of blackjack on the floor. But, you know, I think if it were me I would just leave the roost natural. IMO
