Please could anyone advise me about pairs of geese please? I intend to get a goose (as a housegoose) next year but I wouldn't want them to be lonely and so I will be getting two.

What I don't know however is about bonding/pairing; Will birds of the same sex bond the same way as a Male/Female? Would it be fair to have two geese of the same sex together and if so would you recommend 2 males or 2 females?

I wouldn't mind having goose eggs for breakfast now and again but ultimately they will be a pet so it isn't a problem if ganders are preferable.

Yes, get a pair as they are flocking birds and need a companion. No it does not matter if they are male or female. Two males or two females, if raised together, will development an attachment for each other. We have 11 geese total that have paired by their own choosing. included two males that have bonded and protect one another.

have you given any thought to breed yet.

It would be nice to but I am in a suburban area with probably enough garden space to support 2 -3 birds. I don't think it would be fair to keep any more than that and i'm not sure there are a whole lot of people in my area that would be interested in goslings unfortunately.

I think they meant which breed of goose.
If you're in a suburban area I think noise might be a consideration. I have a fairly large yard, but I think goose honking would be too loud for my neighbors.
Drakes are pretty quiet. :)

We are just now getting around to repairing the siding on the house the last geese we had ripped to shreds. Never again will I have those noisy messy things on this property. I can't imagine having one inside. Good luck.
