Hello. My 1 year old EE hen started presenting an intermittently pale comb--if she was relaxing or hanging out in the run she'd be very pale but when I'd come in and/or bring treats she'd immediately turn red. She's eating, drinking, and pooping normally. Seems to have plenty of energy for foraging or flying up to the roost to greet me and get her belly rubbed. It did recently get very warm here but nothing crazy yet (80 and a bit humid).

I'm worried because she's always been the smallest of my flock (small but mighty--a true spitfire). Despite her size she lays big eggs frequently, and I think it stresses her system because she's the one that'll lay an egg from the roost or in the run from time to time. Recently her laying has slowed a little--from almost ever day to every couple days--and when she does lay they're a bit pimply or uneven in texture. So: all of those little things are adding up to a bit of concern for my favorite hen (shhh don't tell the others!).

Let me know if you have any ideas!

I dont think you have anything to worry about, it's pretty normal, depending on how pale your hen's comb is. A couple of my chickens combs turn bright red when they get excited too. I think your chicken will be just fine! :)
I dont know about the eggs though, but I doubt it has something to do with her comb

Some pictures. Before greeting her (gets even paler than this but she saw me coming). And then after.

Thanks for the encouragement. It gets very pale, like virtually colorless, but it's hard to catch on camera because as I approach she starts Redding (she's very social).

It could be caused by anemia, worms or other cause. Read this link
