Pale Yolks

Are you eating the eggs with them on medicated feed?
Giving them a varied diet will certainly help having more vibrant yolks.

Just bought some young RIR pullets that are laying very pale eggs.... I have them on medicated feed but they came off soy meal/corn with very little free range.... I've had them for a month now and their yolks remain pale... Does diet determine yolk color?

I guess I never replied to the right person! Here’s a great article that explains yolk colors, how to get darker ones..I’ve been supplementing a little, only one of mine started to lay, but hers are as dark as the darkest commercial organic ones I can find, the Vital Farms organic..

edit 2..here’s an interesting article on actually red yolks..if he’d feed more yellow compounds, this would be a richer color, because as we learned in the other articles, like blue requires green and yellow, the richly colored yolk requires both yellow (or dark, leafy greens..) and red compounds..

edit 3..I added a pic of today’s supplements to their diet, there are 15 birds, so, it’s not a whole lot per bird..plus egg #4 and five from Big Red, my Ameraucana or some ppl say EE..
