I have been contemplating building a small coop for my cornish hens, and think this is the way to go

Sure do! Go and buy a remnant piece(s) of linoleum and lay that in there. Then I would suggest using washed, construction-grade sand on top of the linoleum about 3-6 inches thick or so. I'm using a 2x4 'gutter board' in front of the door to my coop so it doesn't spill out.Still haven't gotten out to get pictures of the floor. We have the plywood nailed in place. After reading recommendations here, we got Blackjack #57 to seal the floor before we start building the walls. I am curious if the underside will need to be sealed as well. Ventilation under the coop will be good but I am worried about moisture causing it to rot from the bottom. Any suggestions?
Gosh, I wouldn't think so...Blackjack #57 is a rubberized seal coat. It will be on the top of the plywood, so linoleum will not be needed but could be used as well. I meant underneath the coop. Not sure if I would need to get under neath and coat the underside of the plywood where it is connected to the joists.
