Pallet coop time!

Introducing the girls that will occupy the coop! They showed bright and early yesterday. Out little runt is struggling but hanging on.....she is a fighter for sure. Just hope she can make it!

I'd be careful when they get old enough to be put outside. Even some of my birds that were a couple months old were struggling in 40 degree weather a week or so ago.

Thanks! Will keep that in mind! The earliest they would be going out would be after the new year.....will monitor. They are in our garage, and the garage is cool and downright cold at night...they have the heat lamp, but are getting some of the cooler air in the brooder. Monitoring that too.

Built the girls a small perch and a small "huddle" house they can go in one side and out the other. Window on the side too! Also added a mirror for their amusement.

And everyone has a resident pig...and I guess ours is our Golden Buff....Celo

Latest joy: when I walk to the brooder and talk to them they look at me and peep! Even from a distance if they here me they will peep. Guess they have imprinted.

Haven't updated in awhile...got some more done today. All I need now is corner trim and a bit more paint, and the actual roof to the nest box...which has paint now. Just need to install it, and then on to the unfinished interior. I think it is coming together nicely!
Here is a side view...u can see the solid door here. What a pain the shim in! Window in pic isn't secured yet. One more coat of paint before it goes in for good.

Here is a front view:

Here is the west side....and door with window. It will open up for extra ventilation. Note natural ventilation above the door. Matching one on other side. And nesting boxes completely covered by overhang.

And here is my first ever roofing job. I think it turned out well. We have had 2 very heavy rainfalls since that totalled 4.50" of rain and not a single leak!
